The Central College women’s soccer team returns all-region goalkeeper Sydney Lunardi as it’s anchor this season.
Lunardi was chosen last year as third-team all-region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, and returns for her senior season looking for even bigger things.
Coach Mike Kobylinski says that the goalkeeper position is solid for the Dutch with two really good options.
“Syd has been outstanding for us for the first three years, and I assume a fourth. She’s a quality goalie and there’s a reason she gets the recognition that she deserves. But what’s great about our program is that we have another goalie who is six foot – Savana Robinson. She’s a very good and competent goalie who’s improved greatly. Savana pushes Syd and Syd pushes Savana.”
Lunardi has won 27 games at Central, tied for most all-time in school history.
She’ll get a chance to break that record when the Dutch women open the 2016 season Labor Day weekend in Michigan against Alma and Albion.
