The Marion County Sheriff’s Office says the suspect charged with eluding police early Saturday morning damaged two vehicles during his failed attempt to escape.
Tyler Keasling was arrested in Pella after leading officers on a cross-county chase that started in Mahaska County. During the pursuit, Sheriff Jason Sandholdt says Keasling stopped and pulled into reverse to back into Deputy D.J. Reed’s vehicle on 250th place.
Keasling was stopped by Sheriff Sandholdt, who used his Tahoe to stop the stolen truck with what Sandholdt called a pursuit intervention technique.
He believed Keasling to be dangerous, due to a pair of outstanding warrants and his reckless behavior on the road.
Keasling faces charges in Marion, Mahaska, and Wapello counties following his arrest including; theft of a motor vehicle, assault on a peace officer, eluding, driving while suspended, reckless driving, criminal mischief 2nd degree, interference with official acts, operating while intoxicated 2nd offense, possession of stolen property, and multiple other theft and traffic violations.
