water to thrive

Jefferson Intermediate School has partnered with Central College to help tackle the global water crisis.
Together, more than $2300 was raised in a penny challenge to fourth, fifth, and sixth graders for Water to Thrive, an organization building wells overseas. Principal Brian Miller says they invited students to participate after they were approached by Central College students. He believes the kids were able to learn a lot about water from a global perspective.
“Our main purpose behind it was to try and get kids involved in something that was out of their own local world, and to see that they can have an impact,” Miller says.
Miller says students will once again participate in the Water to Thrive challenge this spring.
