Numerous events are scheduled this Labor Day Weekend at Lake Red Rock.
Park Ranger Tracy Spry encourages residents to enjoy the following:
Friday, Sept. 2 – Live Snakes! – 7:00 p.m. – Whitebreast Amphitheater
Like snakes? Get an up-close look at some of these slithery, scaly reptiles that call the lake
area home. You might even get the chance to hold one of them!
Sat., Sept. 3 – Monarch Watch: Butterfly Tagging – 10:00 a.m. – South Tailwater
Join the Monarch Watch volunteer effort! We’ll attempt to tag some of these unique butterflies as they pass through the Red Rock area during their fall migration. Data from tagged butterflies may be used to help searchers track the monarchs’ journey to Mexico.
Sat., Sept. 3 – Let’s Go Paddling – 1:00 -3:00 p.m. – Roberts Creek
Enjoy the chance to experience both canoeing and kayaking in the same day! Give one or both types of watercraft a try and see how much fun paddling can be! (You must be at least 10 years old to use kayaks. Life jackets will be provided. Programs may be cancelled if inclement weather/wind conditions.)
Sept. 3-5-Bobber/Water Safety Dog Cartoons – 9:30-6:00 p.m.-Red Rock Visitor Center

Sun., Sept. 4 – Meet Bobber, the Water Safety Dog – 3:00 p.m. – Whitebreast Beach
Bobber is a fun loving dog that likes to meet new people and help them learn how to be safe around the water. Come meet him and pick up some great safety tips!
Mon., Sept. 5 – Make a Mini-Sailboat! – 10:00 a.m. – Playscape
Boat builders of all ages: test your design skills and build a tiny sailboat, then check its “seaworthiness” on the nearby wetland. Boat building supplies will be provided. (iAdult supervision required for youngsters.)
Mon., Sept. 5-Pond Exploration – 1:00 p.m.-Playscape
Go “mucking” at one of the lake area’s wetlands! Dip nets and tubs will be available for you to try and catch some of the critters swimming and crawling in and around the area! Mucking can be messy, so please wear old shoes and clothes.
Programs are free of charge, and reservations are not needed. Outdoor activities will be cancelled if raining/inclement weather. Please note that this is the last weekend for regularly scheduled programs for the summer season.
