The two-time defending champs are looking to extend their best-in-the-state winning streak against a conference foe for the final regular season non-district tilt.
Pella will host 1-0 Dallas Center-Grimes tonight before jumping into district play. Head Coach Jay McKinstrey tells KNIA/KRLS the Little Dutch need to utilize this opportunity to improve on miscues from week one, tune up for a competitive district race for the crown, and avoid getting over-hyped.
McKinstrey says the team won’t take DCG lightly, as they aim to maintain their 29-game winning streak by slowing a balanced Mustang attack that made short work of ADM in week one. They are led by Junior QB Damon Clapper, who tossed 3 TDs in the opener, and tailback Nathan Brown, who rushed for 119 yards and two scores.
Pella vs. DCG is live on KRLS2 at kniakrls.com, with the Midtown Tire Team Radio Pregame Show starting at 7 with Andrew Schneider and Randy Sikkema, followed by the 7:30 kickoff.
