Governor Terry Branstad is firm in his belief that a Managed Medicaid system is a good option for the state moving forward, despite hurdles numerous care providers and recipients claim to have faced in the first months of the rollout.
Branstad believes the state is on the right track, and he’s received recent reports that show a high level of success in claims made to the state’s three managed care organizations in comparison to the previous method.
“Under the pay for services system, we had an error rate of over nine percent, close to ten percent,” he says. “The error rate under the new system is very close to zero.”
He says Iowa has a more comprehensive and transparent system than most other states who have made the transition to managed care. Branstad encourages those who have issues to contact his office in the Capitol.
