The Pleasantville School district will vote next week on a bond issue aimed at expanding elementary school facilities.
Superintendent Tony Aylsworth says the district is experiencing growth at lower grades and needs an expansion in order to maintain the quality of education and smaller class sizes the community has enjoyed. Aylsworth says Pleasantville often receives unsolicited comments on the quality of its students from other districts parents and teachers. The September 13 vote will decide whether or not to leverage taxpayer dollars for 10 new elementary classrooms, structural updates and a cafeteria so that the gymnasium can be used for PE during lunch periods.
There is a meeting tonight at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Pleasantville High School for those wishing to know more about the proposed expansion.
