The Knoxville Township Rural Fire Department is looking to bring joy to some local families this Christmas.

Chief Kenny Thompson tells KNIA/KRLS News that community support would be appreciated to assist the fire department in helping families who might not otherwise be able to afford gifts this Christmas season. Donations of toys and cash to help purchase clothing for the family members are requested. While gifts would be welcome at any time, Thompson says if donations could be made by December 20, it would help make sure all gifts are received in time for Christmas morning. This is the fifth year the fire department has helped those in need. Last year the department, with the help of the community, were able to help seventeen families have a merry Christmas.
