Pella Hy-Vee Store Director Derek Sparks and his staff paid a surprise to the winner of the $10,000 Fuel Saver Plus Perks giveaway.

Gail Van Beek of Pella won the grand prize and was awarded her check at Pella Christian High School, where she works at the front desk as the finance secretary.

Van Beek says she’s a frequent Hy-Vee shopper, but never thought she’d win the big prize. She says her family is working on a home improvement project, which she may use the funds for. Van Beek plans to make a contribution to Pella Christian High School as well.

Sparks tells KNIA/KRLS News they gave away $100 Hy-Vee gift cards to 120 shoppers during the promotion.
