Numerous fire departments worked late into the night Tuesday to extinguish a fire impacting numerous businesses on the Melcher-Dallas square.

Just before 9:30 p.m., a structure fire was reported on the west side of the square. The blaze engulfed many businesses on the west side of the square including: That’s My Bag and More, Sinners and Saints Bar, Iowa State Savings Bank, United States Post Office and Craftiques Flea Market. Significant damage to the buildings resulted from the fire.

Eleven different agencies responded to the blaze including Melcher-Dallas Fire and Rescue, Knoxville Township Rural Fire, Knoxville Fire and Rescue, Pleasantville Fire, Pella Rural Fire, and Pella City Fire Department, among others. One person was transported from the scene with injuries.
