With warmer temperatures this week local swimming pools could see an increase in residents trying to find a way to beat the heat.
Environmental Health Coordinator, Cory Frank with Marion County Public Health, tells KNIA/KRLS News residents should stay out of the water if they have diarrhea or if their children have diarrhea. The swim diaper will not prevent feces from entering the pool. Frank says statistically the average child that swims for 45 minutes usually deposits close to10 grams of fecal material into a pool. Frank adds, regularly inspected pools are safer than a home swimming pool or lake, but people should take precautions such as making sure to take a shower before entering a pool and to not ingest any pool water.
