The Central women’s soccer team saw its regular season come to an abrupt end Saturday in a loss to Luther in the IIAC quarterfinals. Tied 0-0 through regulation and two overtimes, the Norse won the penalty kick shootout 4-3. The Dutch sit on the bubble for the NCAA national tournament field, which will be announced next weekend.
Central’s women finished fifth and the men were sixth at the Iowa Conference cross-country meet in Waverly. Mark Fairley finished sixth individually for the men, while Holly McKinney and Evie Kammeyer were 10th and 12th on the women’s side, with all three runners earning all-conference recognition.
The Dutch volleyball team finished its season with a pair of losses Saturday at the Illinois Wesleyan tournament. After dropping matches to Lincoln Christian and Wisconsin Lutheran on Friday, the Dutch were beat by Westminster and the 13th-ranked host Titans on Saturday. Central finishes its season at 9-24.
