Another chapter in the Knoxville and Pella basketball rivalry will be written tonight as the Panthers and Little Dutch meet in Pella. The Knoxville girls stand at 11-3 on the season using several freshmen in key roles. The Panthers are coming off a ten point win over Clarke on Friday. The Panthers step up a bit in competition as Coach Jim Uitermarkt tells KNIA/KRLS Sports tonight’s game will make his team better in the long run. Pella got a win over PCM on Saturday and stand at 9-4 on the season led by Emily Holterhaus, who averages nearly 16 points per game. On the boys side, the Little Dutch also got a win over PCM on Saturday, putting three players in double figures. Saturday’s win halted a three-game slide, but Coach Derek Schulte says that there are still two major areas that his squad is focusing on improving. The Panthers counter with a 6-7 record and broke a three game losing streak of their own Friday with a win over Clarke. You can hear the call on both KNIA and KRLS, the Pella perspective with Trevor Castle on 92.1 KRLS or the Knoxville perspective with Derek Cardwell and John Keitges on AM 1320 and 95.3 KNIA and kniakrls.com at six.
