An Iowa social historian is returning to Central College on Thursday, April 5th for two lectures.

Michael Luick-Thrams, executive director of Traces Center for History and Culture in Mason City, presents “Kickin’ the Kaiser: Anti-German Hysteria in the American Heartland during World War I” at 11 a.m., and “The Klan: The White Cancer” at 4 p.m., both in the Moore Weller Rooms. Luick-Thrams will share the stories of how rural Iowa treated those with German ancestry in the late 1910s and dealt with thousands of marching KKK members in the afternoon session in the following decade.

Both programs are free and open to the public.
