As campgrounds fill at Lake Red Rock and other state and county parks for the Memorial Day holiday, park rangers want to remind the public to enjoy the outdoors safely year-round.

Park Ranger Tracy Spry tells KNIA/KRLS News that those planning to camp should make sure all safety equipment is working and up to date in campers and boats. Additionally, she says anyone planning to swim or be on a boat should wear a properly fitting, functional life jacket.

She says all children should be supervised by parents or trusted adults, with a plan to return to the campground in place if they plan to venture on a trail.
