Despite severe weather early in the day, the Knoxville baseball team was able to get their conference matchup in with Chariton and came away with a comfortable 10-2 win.
As heard on KNIA, the Chargers had the start they were looking for scratching across a pair of runs in the first to take an early lead. That was short lived however, as the Panthers put up a four spot in the second thanks to a Carter Bailey towering three-run shot to left field to take a lead they never relinquished. Knoxville tacked on three more in the third including a rare two RBI sac fly by RJ Roberts that plated both Rylan Cox and a hustling Ben Wallace from second base. The Panthers added some insurance in the fourth and fifth to seal the win. Wallace led the offense going 2-for-4 with two RBI and Jacob Zuck added a pair of hits. Freshman Mike Hudson was effective on the bump throwing the final 4 1/3 innings giving up just two hits and no runs.
Knoxville improves to 18-10 and close out the week tonight hosting Davis County for a doubleheader.
