Former Knoxville High School student teacher Tyler Hatch, who was given a two-year suspended sentence in January after pleading guilty to sexual exploitation by a school employee, has voluntarily given up his coaching license.
According to the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners, Hatch waived his right to a hearing before the board and his coaching license is permanently revoked with no possibility of reinstatement. Hatch was a student teacher at the school in the fall of 2016 when he had sexual contact with an 18 year-old student. There is no law against relations between student teachers and high school students, and Hatch was charged criminally because of his role as an assistant wrestling coach.
