The Marion County Extension Office warns area residents to check for bagworms near their trees.
Bagworms are a caterpillar pest that feed on tree foliage, with attacked plants being partially or completely defoliated and potentially leading to death. Bagworms attack mostly spruce, cedar, and other conifer trees. The Marion County Extension Office recommends a treatment of commercial or homeowner pesticide, and applications later in the summer will be less effective.
