Chances for severe weather return today throughout the southeast half of Iowa.
According to the National Weather Service, a slight risk of severe weather is in place in Marion County and the surrounding area this afternoon and evening, as well as areas southeast of a line from Shenandoah to Decorah. Large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rain are all threats. A cold front following the storms will bring more pleasant weather. The heavy rain will be welcome, as moderate to severe drought exists in most of south central Iowa. Between .10 and .20” of rain fell early Monday morning.
