Highway T-15 over the Red Rock Dam will be closed to through traffic for the next two weeks, beginning today.
Marion County Engineer Tyler Christian tells KNIA/KRLS News the repair project is coordinated between the county, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Ames Construction, who is working on the hydroelectric project.
“Marion County will be doing some work on the bridge approaches to the dam,” he says. “The Corps of Engineers will be doing deck patching on the bridge, which is their responsibility, and Ames Construction will be removing a box culvert that was installed in the initial phases of the hydroelectric project–removing that from T-15, and then doing some other patch work in and around that same area on the north side of the dam’s bridge.”
The Red Rock Visitor Center, South Tailwater, and North Overlook Camping Area all will remain open, with detours posted primarily connecting Knoxville to Pella along Elevator Road, and access to Idaho Drive also coming from G-28 and Washington Street in Pella.
