The Knoxville Nationals format is changing. After having a sellout crowd in 2018…The Knoxville Raceway announced plans to change the format to Friday’s Hard Knox format in 2019. For the last few years, the top four from the Friday A-Main transfer to the Saturday Championship A to fill positions 16-20 with Saturday’s B-Main cars filling starting spots 21-24. In 2019, the top four in the Friday A-Main still make the Saturday championship finale but will now fill starting positions 21-24 with the Saturday B-Main transfers filling spots 16-20. The top 16 in points after the qualifying nights will still be locked into Saturday’s A-Main. Another change is the Speed Sport News World Challenge will no longer be held at the Knoxville Raceway. Marketing Director Kendra Jacobs says they will continue to work with Premier Speedway in Australia to honor the highest finishing international driver at the Nationals. The 59th Annual Five Hour Energy Knoxville Nationals are scheduled for August 7th-10th, 2019.
