Pella Christian’s boys kick off the hoops season and girls seek their first win tonight when ADM comes to Eagle Lane.

The two teams squared off in the opening week last year, with the Pella Christian girls earning a 52-28 win, while the boys gave up a large lead late in a 65-63 loss. Head Coach Larry Hessing tells KRLS Sports it’s always difficult to judge how a team is to start the year, but they have to be ready to take on all comers as there are few breaks in their schedule leading up to the holiday break.

“I do know two or three actions [from ADM] that hurt us last year, in terms of their offensive actions, and so I know we’ll be prepared to defend that,” he says.

The Eagles girls have dropped their first two games of the year to open the season, falling on the road in Van Meter and at Montezuma in close games before Thanksgiving. Girls-boys doubleheader action from Eagle Lane begins tonight at 6:15 p.m., with pregame starting at 6 p.m. on 92.1 KRLS.
