The Central College women’s basketball team earned their first American River’s Conference win of the season, knocking off Dubuque at home 72-66.

The Dutch were paced by a 24 point-10 rebound double double from Junior Kendall Brown, who also added four blocked shots. Kristin Hubert and Maci Gambell each added a dozen points. Central improves to 5-7 overall.

The Central men couldn’t keep pace with the Spartans, especially in the second half as they fell 93-74. Dubuque scored 58 points and shot 57.6% from the floor in the final 20 minutes. Jaeden Moody scored 17 points, and Thomas Spoehr added 15 for the now 4-8 Dutch.

One of the season’s toughest assignments awaits Saturday for the women as the Dutch take on No. 23-ranked Wartburg College at 2 p.m. at P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium in a women’s-men’s doubleheader, with the men hosting the 7-5 Knights. The doubleheader will be broadcast on 92.1 KRLS. With students still on break, the college is also offering free admission to all Central alumni.
