New Year’s Eve was a nice, quiet one for the officers of the Knoxville Police Department — just the way they like it.

That’s according to Police Chief Dan Losada, who tells KNIA/KRLS News there were no major incidents to speak of on an evening which can lead a lot of drivers to get behind the wheel after having too much to drink.

“There were no major concerns; we had no drunk driving arrests, which is always great news. Our officers did stop several vehicles with suspected drunk drivers, but when they gave them field sobriety tests they all got through them…so nobody was arrested for drunk driving,” Chief Losada says.

Officers did report seeing parking lots near the local bars full the next morning, and Chief Losada says that’s just what they want to see — drivers who have had too much getting a ride home, rather than taking to the road themselves.
