Iowa Senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst recently co-sponsored a resolution in the United States Senate to honor the life and work of former Iowa Democratic Senator John C. Culver.

The resolution lists several of Culver’s significant achievements during his time in the Senate, including a modernization of rules to include a more public access to committee schedules and floor status, and marks the respect for Culver and the sadness of his passing. Culver was elected to Congress and served from 1965-1975, before serving a term in the Senate from 1975-1981. Simpson College partnered with Culver to create the John C. Culver Public Policy Center on campus, to promote civic education, service, and political engagement. Culver passed away in late December. The full resolution can be found below.
