The Pella City Council approved an ordinance increasing the city’s wastewater rates at their meeting Tuesday. The eight percent bump will be on bills due July 20th, and according to city staff, amounts to approximately 3-4 dollars more per month. It’s the second in a series scheduled due to nearly $5 million in Iowa DNR mandated improvements to the wastewater plant. Council also approved a resolution for a final plat for the Bos Ridge Development and the 3rd reading of a planned unit development zoning ordinance for 23 acres of land at 2110 Idaho Drive.
They also discussed their investment in the Pella Area Community and Economic Alliance following their regular meeting, considering the city’s annual investment to being a member of the PACE Alliance, which in the next fiscal year budget is scheduled to be reduced from $30,000 to $15,000. Council plans to stay at the lower number and reconsider in February for the 2021 fiscal year.
