Both the Little and Lady Dutch track and field teams are once again Little Hawkeye Conference champions. Pella’s girls and boys each finished first overall in the meet.

Pella’s boys scored 156 team points, topping 2nd place Indianola’s 13. The Dutch had top finishes from Jordan Buma in the 400 meter hurdles (57.08), Nick DeJong in the shot put (58-2), Shuttle Hurdle Relay of Nolan Clayberg, Brandon Winegardner, Gabe Thomas, and Buma (1:00.63).

The Lady Dutch edged Indianola by 8 points, scoring 154 total. Pella was paced by 1-2 finishes in the 100 meter (Emily McMartin – 12.99, Metsje Miller – 13.08) and 200 meter races (Metjse Miller – 26.32, Calla Kerndt – 27.14). Caroline McMartin won the 3000 meter run, clocking in at 11:11.91. The Lady Dutch also won the following relays:

4×100 (Miller, Roselande Vanderhoff, Evie Armstrong, E. McMartin – 49.77)
4×200 (Miller, E. McMartin, Vanderhoff, Evie Armstrong – 1:46.03)
Distance Medley (Kerndt, Vanderhoff, Elsie Thoreson, C. McMartin – 4:19.92)

Pella Christian’s boys finished 6th as a team, with Blake Veenstra winning the discus title (163-04) and 4th in the shot put (51-2). The Eagles 4×200 relay of Levi Schelhaas, Jayden Huisman, Kyle Fynaardt, and Nathan De Bruin were 2nd fastest at the meet (1:34.16) as well. The Eagles girls finished 8th in the field, paced by a 2nd place finish for Allison Van Gorp in the shot put (36-1.5) and 5th place in the discus (117-00). The 4×100 meter relay team of Erika Nikkel, Chloe Morgan, Kayla Natelborg, and Avey Amelse was 4th quickest (53.03).

Both the Dutch and Eagles will wrap up the regular season Monday at the Pella High School invitational.
