The annual Strikeout for Cancer Softball Game was played Friday evening between Indianola and SE Polk, with the Indians coming out on top 5-2. The Rams struck first with a home run in the top of the first inning, before an Emily Chaplin home run tied the game up in the second. Neither team pushed across a run until the bottom of the fifth, when Kassie Baker hit a two-run single, followed by a Destiny Lewis single to make it 4-1. The Rams got one back in the sixth, but Sammie Backer closed the door with a home run. Kate Kralik got the win in the circle, going the distance. The Indians are now 1-1 on the season, and will next host a doubleheader against Newton on Tuesday.
