
The Indianola softball team continued its blazing hot streak down the home stretch of its schedule Tuesday evening, sweeping Urbandale 10-0 and 6-1 in a doubleheader. The baseball squad was not as fortunate, traveling out to Council Bluffs and falling in a rain-shortened contest against Lincoln 7-5.
The Indians softball squad ended game one in just five innings, scoring three runs in each of the first two innings off of RBI hits from Gracey May, Brooke Tucker, Emily Chaplin, and Diamond Mosley, a sac-fly from Kassie Baker, and a homerun from Destiny Lewis. The Indians added four more in the fourth on RBI singles from Sammie Becker and Macie Mays, and an RBI double from Chaplin. Kate Kralik was the winner in the pitchers circle. Game two saw the Indians again claim an early lead, off of a homerun from Tucker and an RBI double from Bella Bingaman in the second, homeruns from Lewis and Mosley in the third, and another homerun from Tucker in the fifth.
The Indians baseball team ran into a tough Lynx squad, and rains in northwest Iowa as well in a rain shortened contest. The softball squad has now won 16 in a row to bring their record to 27-4, the baseball team falls to 13-12, and both teams will host Newton for a doubleheader this evening. Game two of the baseball contest can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA, with pregame coverage beginning at approximately 7:15pm.
