Today is the deadline for anyone interested in filling the vacant Knoxville City Council position to formally inform the city of their intentions. As of yesterday, two individuals have indicated their interest in filling the vacant position. Jerrold Jordan and John Gotta have both formally informed the city of their interest. Anyone interested in filling the vacant position can submit a letter of interest and resume to City Hall by 6 pm today for review by the council. Following today’s deadline the remaining Councilmembers will review all submitted material, and may schedule a meeting to interview interested candidates. Knoxville City Manager Aaron Adams tells KNIA/KRLS News following the deadline, depending on the interest the council will more than likely schedule interviews for either August 5th or 12th with the person chosen to fill the position, being appointed on August 19th. For more information regarding the vacancy or running for city council, contact Knoxville City Hall.
