Indianola residents will have a unique way of raising money for The Helping Hand of Indianola this September, with a Soup Bowl Fundraiser. Organizer Emma Jakes tells KNIA News bowls were glazed in early September, and people can purchase a glazed bowl made by local celebrities in a silent auction at a Soup Supper at the Warren County Extension Office in October. Jakes also said this was a project that combined several of her interests.
“Back in November of last year, I was thinking about projects I could do for my senior year. I wanted to combine my love of art and pottery as well as other facets of the community to raise money and food for a good cause in The Helping Hand. I’ve had my own pottery business since I was 12, so this is a big passion of mine.”
The Soup Supper will include a free-will donation box, the auction of glazed bowls, and encourages those attending to bring a non-perishable food item to donate. The Soup Supper will be held on October 19th from 5-7pm. For more information on the Soup Bowl Fundraiser, tune in to today’s Let’s Talk Indianola.
