We have talked a lot about how the local spring sports coaches and teams are waiting out the seasons to start and are unable to even meet as teams due to the shut down. Baseball and softball coaches are also in a state of limbo right now with their preseason planning. Many teams would be getting in offseason pitchers and catchers workouts and doing some conditioning–but those plans are also on hold. Twin Cedars Baseball Coach Mark Shroeder tells KRLS Sports while he is unable to see his player personally, he–like the spring coaches, are sending workout schedules and suggestions on how to stay in shape for this summer.

Shroeder:
“Give them the idea of what’s going to happen when the season starts. Unfortunately they won’t get that, and I’m fortunate to teach with the assistant coach and I’m really close to him so we’re able to talk and try to stay on the same page going forward.”

Right now, the Bluegrass Conference is keeping the baseball schedules for the time being. Schroeder says with the new schedule guidelines put forth by the Iowa High School Athletic Association, the schedule could consist of conference only games to make sure those are fulfilled.
