The City of Indianola currently sits at a census participation rate of 71.2%, while Warren County has the 7th best response rate in the state at 72.6%. According to the latest data from the US Census Bureau, Iowa has the fourth best response rate in the nation behind Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Nebraska. Indianola Community and Economic Development Director Charlie Dissell tells KNIA News the census has a far reaching impact on the community; it affects businesses, city planning, school district planning, and overall enthusiasm if we can call the area a growing community, so participation is important.
