A new art gallery is on display in the parking lot of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Knoxville. The exhibit features 10 murals painted into parking spaces, each depicting a biblical parable. A brochure is available to pick up on site, which explains the meaning of each illustration.

The illustrations were created by church members. Those who want to view the exhibit are encouraged to do so as soon as possible, as it is a temporary exhibit. Weather will largely determine the length of time the illustrations are on display.

Rev. Joshua Feala, Pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, says that the project started as a community outreach project, and saw a great opportunity for motorists along a heavily-traveled road.

“We saw a way we could reach out to people in a creative manner. Often times, our parking lot is best known as the best place to turn around when you’re on Highway 5. So we thought, ‘Let’s be a little more inviting during a time we could really use some good news.’ So we decided it would be a lot of fun to paint some of Jesus’ parables in our parking lot. And of course that project grew much more than we anticipated. Honestly though, we are quite happy with the results. So I hope folks can make some time and come check it out.”

The exhibit is free and open to the public, and visitors are invited to drive through at any time.
