A Bussey man faces charges following an incident on Sunday, where 37-year-old Lucas Richard French allegedly committed domestic abuse assault against a member of his household.

The victim was transported to the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics for treatment, where a Marion County Sheriff’s deputy conducted an interview. The victim stated on Sunday, she and French got into an argument, which became physical when French grabbed her by the neck and assaulted her.

French allegedly began choking the victim and brought her to the ground before throwing her onto a couch. The victim began to lose consciousness, and punched French in self-defense. The victim said French then began punching back.

The victim was able to escape the house, but says she was caught by French by her hair and thrown to the ground, causing bruising on her wrist. The victim was finally able to escape to a residence in Mahaska County.

An arrest warrant was issued and French was taken into custody, with bond set at $7,000. An initial court appearance is set for September 10th.
