Knoxville Coaches vs. Cancer is just over a week away, with the event taking place all day Saturday, January 23rd. Jim Uitermarkt tells KNIA/KRLS News that this has been the largest Coaches vs. Cancer event in the nation for the last 13 years, and that over $600,000 has been raised to date. He says that people can send monetary donations, especially since fewer people will be attending.
“We’ve set up a website through the American Cancer Society to just accept cash donations. If anyone can’t find that and is wanting to donate, contact me or my wife Angie, and we’ll get you that information. The nice thing about that is that you’d immediately get an email with a receipt showing that it was a tax deductible donation.”
This year’s event will not have the usual alumni game, but will have an online auction. Donations to the auction are also still being accepted. The Knoxville High School basketball teams will host Chariton that evening, with the games airing on 95.3 KNIA.
