The Pella boys and girls track and field teams showcased some early season work indoors at the Central College Invitational Saturday.

More than two dozen schools of varying class size competed with limited rosters ahead of the outdoor season.

Pella’s boys earned a top finish from Gage Huyser in the 60 meter hurdles, at 8.71 seconds and Nathan Vander Waal in the 3200 meters (10:45.57).

The Lady Dutch were highlighted by the following top 10 performances:
Emily McMartin – 4th place, 60 meter dash (8.04 s), 4th place 200m (27.48)
Marissa Hackman – 5th place, 200m (27.49)
Abby Cutler – 6th place, 3000 meters (12:29.23)
Calla Kerndt – 7th place, 200m (27.88)
Jacie Trine – 9th place, 200m (28.47), 400 m (1:04.97)

The outdoor track and field season starts this week for the Pella boys at Waukee on Thursday, while the girls open at Southeast Polk on Tuesday, March 30th.
