The City of Knoxville will begin its third annual “Operation Clean Sweep” later this month. Throughout the two-month project, code enforcement officers will visit every residence to check for code violations in the front yard. Community Service Officer Meredith Clark with the Knoxville Police Department says this program is intended to promote a healthy image of the city and ensure regulations are being followed.

“The benefits of Operation Clean Sweep are for better health and quality of life for our residents, ensuring children have a safe and healthy environment to live and play. It also helps to preserve the environment. One of the main goals with the city is attracting businesses, which brings employment to our area. It’s also to impart civic sense to our residents and its importance.”

Officers will conduct a brief evaluation of properties, and a flyer will be placed on the doorknob or handle of each front door, listing any violations found. The program will begin Monday, May 17th and run through mid July. Learn more about this program on an upcoming Let’s Talk Knoxville.
