The Sabers baseball squad finished their regular season at Baxter on Wednesday night with a 6-3 victory. The Twin Cedars softball team had their second round regional game with Melcher-Dallas postponed to tonight due to rain.

It was a tough day for the Sabers baseball team offensively, but the Sabers found a way to close out the regular season with a win. Brett Sedlock contributed an RBI double, while Dallas Clark gave Twin Cedars 2 ⅔ innings on the bump and gave up just one run on one hit. Mason Sanders guided the Sabers through the middle of the game striking out four in 2 ⅔ innings while surrendering just one run on no hits. Jace Nichols closed things out for Twin Cedars, striking out two in his 1 ⅔ innings pitched and allowed just one hit.

The Sabers softball team plays tonight at 7 p.m. against Melcher-Dallas in the second round of the regional tournament after yesterday’s rainout. Head Coach Zack Dunkin said that even though this is a big rivalry matchup in the postseason, the Sabers have to focus on controlling what they have control over.

Twin Cedars baseball finishes the regular season with a 15-10 record. The Sabers are off until Saturday when they’ll travel to Urbandale to face Montezuma for the first round of the District Tournament which begins at 5 p.m.
