Pella Christian opened the district baseball playoffs making quick work of Chariton in a 3-0 win during the final home event of 2020-21 at Eagle Lane Saturday, as heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

A three-run 2nd inning featuring four Eagles hits made the difference they needed behind pitchers Micah DeHaan and Lincoln Vander Molen, who combined to give up seven baserunners and strike out seven Chargers in the seven-inning shut out.

The Eagles improve to 10-21 overall and travel to Centerville Tuesday in the second round of the Class 2A District 13 bracket against Interstate 35. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m., with pregame starting at 4:45 Tuesday on 92.1 KRLS.
