The Knoxville School District approved an agreement with The Well Knoxville to receive grant funding for mental health and homeless services. Both of these grants require community partnerships to help provide these services. Superintendent Cassi Pearson says both these topics are notable issues for Knoxville students.

“Each year, we have averaged about 30 kids who fall under the homeless act. That doesn’t necessarily mean they’re sleeping on the streets. It means they’re doubled up with family members, or they don’t live with their legal guardians. They might be a little more transient. These funds will be used for additional services in these areas. We are thankful for our community partners who are willing to write these grants with us.”

Nearly $160,000 will be received over the next three years. The Well’s role is to coordinate the services. Learn more about these grants here.
