The Knoxville Volleyball Squad gave Winterset a battle Thursday night but in the end it was the class 4A #15 Huskys pulling out the match three sets to two. The teams split the first two sets with Winterset winning set one 25-22, but Knoxville taking set two that went to deuce 28-26. After Winterset dominated set three 25-15, the Panthers made plays down the stretch to pull away in set four 25-18 and force set five. Coach Mollie Keitges told KNIA/KRLS Sports it came down to her team making errors at the most crucial times that let Winterset off the hook.
Keitges: “We really numbers-wise didn’t really have a ton of errors, but we have errors are not great times, and most of those errors were aggressive errors, so we’re getting there and they’ll get it figured out.”
The Panthers were good at the net when they connected with Abby Wadle and Brittany Bacorn getting 17 kills each. Bacorn added the triple double to her line with 21 assists and 27 digs. Emma Dunkin was perfect in 14 serve attempts and Melanie Sullivan hit 19 good serves in 19 attempts with two aces, while freshman Hannah Dunkin had 19 assists. Knoxville is now 20-13 on the season and will host its annual invitational on Saturday, Pella Christian will be one of eight teams participating.
