The second half of the conference season started on Eagle Lane for Pella Christian and Norwalk, as it was the Warrior girls running on the Eagles 59-29 and the #6 in 2A P.C. boys toppling Norwalk 54-41, as heard live on 92.1 KRLS Friday.

A sluggish 1st quarter in the opener turned quickly into a Warriors offensive explosion, keyed by new member of the 1,000 point club Jocelyn Bice, who scored 12 of her 19 game-high points in the 2nd. Norwalk’s 24-8 advantage in the eight minutes before the half effectively ended the game. Joslyn Terpstra finished with 15 points and four steals for the Eagles.

The nightcap featured one of the lowest scoring halves thus far in a league season featuring some of the best scoring teams in Iowa at an 18-15 Norwalk lead. The Warriors largely controlled the first two-and-a-half quarters, but never got a lead going larger than two possessions during that stretch. Down 25-20, the Eagles offense showed up, as two Levi Schelhaas three-pointers fueled a 15-0 run to end the 3rd quarter.

Schelhaas finished with a game high 19 points and Eric Mulder tallied 7 blocks and an 11-point, 14 rebound double-double, while the Warriors were led by 10 points each from Vinny Mauro and Aidan Harder.

Pella Christian’s boys are up to 10-3 overall and 5-3 in the conference, while the girls fall to 2-12 and remain winless in the league; they head to Wells Fargo Arena Monday to take on Des Moines Christian in a non-conference doubleheader. Norwalk’s girls are up to 8-6 overall and 4-4 in the league, and the boys fall to 6-7 and 3-5 in the LHC; both are back in the Tulip City Tuesday to take on Pella.
