wisse-hoem-run

Offensive firepower was the highlight for the boys and girls of summer from Pella High School as the Dutch softball team won their regular season finale against Perry 9-2 and the baseball team dominated Washington 9-4 in five weather-shortened innings Tuesday.

Senior Thea Wisse hit a three-run home run in her final home game at Pella Middle School as the Dutch made short work of the Ladyjays defense. Ava Curry was 2-for-4 with a triple and Tori Van Vark also had a pair of hits. Saige DeJong gave up just one earned run in the complete game victory. Pella finishes the regular season at 13-21 and heads to Oskaloosa Thursday for the Class 4A regional opener, which can be heard on 92.1 KRLS.

Pella scored five runs in the first inning against the Demons and kept the lead until weather shortened the end of the contest. Keegan Hansen was 3-for-4 with a 2B and two runs batted in, Isaiah Kettler was 2-for-4 with a triple, and Tate Weesner cleared the bases with a double to get three RBI. Jason Knox struck out four in two innings in his final tune up before Friday’s postseason showdown with Knoxville. The Dutch are 19-14 overall and are scheduled to head to South Tama tonight for the final regular season baseball game of 2022.
