The Pella wrestling teams competed at home for the final time this season and celebrated their graduating seniors in a dual against Dallas Center-Grimes, with the visiting Mustangs sweeping the Dutch 49-12 in the boys head-to-head and 64-6 over the girls.

Emmalee Spurgeon was able to save the best for last for the Dutch girls, who otherwise struggled against a deep DCG squad, as she claimed a pinfall victory for the lone home team win in the school’s first ever girls dual meet in Pella High School in the final match of their competition.

The nightcap featured seven matches that went the full three periods, but the Mustangs largely won those close contests. Kaiden Hol (220) earned the lone Dutch pinfall victory, with Peyton Ritzert (138) and T.R. Putz (145) winning by decision. Pella wore special uniforms sponsored by the Army National Guard for armed services night.

Pella’s girls hit the road to Colfax-Mingo for their final regular season tournament of the season on Saturday, while the boys will return to Williamsburg for an invitational that same day.
