The Pella Christian basketball teams kick off the second round of Little Hawkeye Conference action tonight with a short trip down Highway 163 to face Oskaloosa.

In their matchup on Eagle Lane during the first slate of conference play back on December 2nd, Oskaloosa edged out the Pella Christian girls 43-41 behind a combined 35 points from Presley Blommers and Dasia Foster. Eagles head coach Jordan Dyk acknowledges that Blommers and Foster will present just as big a challenge for his team the second time around, but believes his team will be prepared for the task.

“With Blommers on a wing, everybody’s gotta be aware of where she is. And then we gotta front Foster, she’ll get it, and we gotta play backside help, which, I mean, that’s tough to do both of those things. We’ve got to buy into that. But you know what? She’s gonna score some points. We’ve got to be okay with that too. We’re going to make some errors. We’re going to make mistakes. But don’t let that balloon into a bunch. Come back, keep doing it, keep defending, make them have great passes, and make them finish the possession.”

In the nightcap of the doubleheader, the Pella Christian boys come into the game with an 8-4 overall record following their 83-47 domination of Pekin Monday night. The Indians have struggled to a 1-10 start to the season and have dropped their last five games including Tuesday night’s 76-42 defeat against Mount Pleasant.
