A quick start and steady play propelled the Pella Christian softball team to a 6-3 Little Hawkeye Conference win over Oskaloosa in a game heard live on 92.1 KRLS, while the Eagles baseball team dominated the Indians for a 13-1 five inning league win Wednesday night.

Leading off for the P.C. softball squad, Emri Agre opened the game with a double and scored a pitch later, stealing third base and advancing home on an overthrow. The Eagles lead grew to 2-0 when Amaia Agre singled and Emma Eekhoff drove her in with a base knock. Pella Christian added another run in the top of the second, before Oskaloosa got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the frame. After a scoreless third inning, the Eagles again plated two runs in the fourth to extend their lead to 5-2. The Indians pulled back within two in the bottom of the fifth, but Eekhoff finished off the game with a solo homer in the top of the seven, before striking out the side to end the contest. Eekhoff earned the complete game win, recording nine punchouts, while allowing three runs on four hits and a walk. Emri Agre led the offense, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while collecting her 200th career hit to become the program’s all-time hits leader. The win pushed Pella Christian softball to 9-20 overall and 3-12 in the league.

It was all Eagles on the baseball diamond at Oskaloosa, as they scored 13 unanswered runs in the opening three frames en route to the blowout win. Pella Christian plated two runs in the first inning, six runs in the second, and five runs in the third before the Indians scored their lone run of the game in the bottom of the third. Lincoln Vander Molen had a big night at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double, four RBIs and a walk, while Caleb Van Arendonk went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, a double, and a walk. Grant Kelderman recorded three strike outs to earn the win on the bump, throwing all five innings while allowing just one run on three hits and three walks. The Eagles baseball squad improved to 14-12 overall and 6-10 in the conference.
