The Warren County rivalry was in full swing at Indianola High School Wednesday, as the Indians baseball team came out in front by just a run in a 2-1 win over Norwalk as heard live on 94.3 KNIA.

The Warriors took an early lead, with CJ Davis earning a leadoff walk, Jackson Campbell bunting him over to second, taking third on a wild pitch, and scoring on a groundout from DJ Harris. That would be the only offense of the game for Norwalk despite multiple other chances, as Indianola tied the score at one in the fourth on an RBI double by Bennett Brueck, then took advantage of a Gage Sinn single in the sixth as he eventually came around to score the winning run on a wild pitch.

CJ Davis for Norwalk and Daniel Kuebler for Indianola were efficient on the mound, both going six innings striking out five, with Davis taking the tough luck loss giving up seven hits and Kuebler earning the win only allowing three hits and retiring the last 10 batters he faced. Kaden Ritchie came on the seventh to earn the save despite a pair of Norwalk hits.

Indians head coach Jon Fitzpatrick tells KNIA Sports his squad ran into some trouble early, but they were able to avoid a big inning and stranded seven Warriors baserunners in the first three innings before Kuebler settled into a groove and gave them a chance to win.

Sinn went 3-3 at the plate to lead the Indians, while Harris went 2-4 for the Warriors. Norwalk falls to 7-17 and 4-10 in the Little Hawkeye Conference and next plays tomorrow hosting a doubleheader against Dallas Center-Grimes. Indianola improves to 20-7 and 12-3, and travels to Grinnell for a doubleheader tomorrow.
