Both Knoxville Basketball Squads fell on Hall of Fame Induction night to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont with the girls taking it on the chin 62-28, while the boys fell to the Rockets 72-58. The girls were never in the game and without the services of Brittany Bacorn, fell behind early and never threatened EBF. Anna Buttell led the Panthers with ten points. The boys in Coach Troy Pearson words were beaten soundly in all three phases of the game and always seemed a step behind the Rockets. Pearson added it was a situation that his team was not ready for the intensity that the Rockets brought.
Pearson: “We weren’t good enough tonight. All three phases our kids were never in the game and we have to get them ready and as coach I’ll take responsibility for that.”
Landen Norris scored 20 points to lead the Panthers who dropped to 7-5 on the season and 6-3 in the South Central Conference while the girls are now 6-7 and 6-3 in the conference. Both Knoxville squads are back to the gym on Monday hosting a make-up game with Cardinal. Live coverage is on 95.3 KNIA and the KHS Activities You Tube Channel at 6:15.
