Central College students received recognition during the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival – Midwest Region conference in Des Moines.

Amelia Brown, an art and musical theatre double major from Prairie City, received commendations for achievement in puppetry design and construction as well as for regional allied design and technology for the production of “Young Frankenstein.” Brooklynn Cassens, an elementary education major from Colorado Springs, Colorado, received commendations for stage management in the production of “Young Frankenstein.” Emily Shields, a musical theatre and art double major from Arden Hills, Minnesota, received commendations for stage management in the production of “Young Frankenstein.” Recent graduate Mollie Abkes from Pella received commendations for properties design and construction for the production of “Young Frankenstein.” Central’s theatre creative team received a commendation for their achievement in the composition of design elements for the production of “A Grand Night for Singing.”

Participating students at the conference attended workshops, worked with theatre professionals and watched student productions from across the Midwest.
